The most frequently asked questions
about a Sunroom
Q: How much does a sunroom
cost?
A: Quite simply, price varies. This is by far our most
frequently asked question. As a comparison, we often ask our customers,
How much does a new car cost? Certainly, we all
know that the price of a new car depends on the brand, model, size,
style and type of options selected. Just like buying a new car,
there are many features, styles and design options that must be
considered before investing in a new Sunroom or Patio Room. First
and most importantly, you should meet with
one of our experienced design consultants at your home to survey
the location of where you would like a room installed. At no
cost to you, he will survey the area for any construction concerns
and assist you in designing a room to fit your needs, design preferences
and budget. To simply quote you a price based on square footage
or from a picture in a brochure would not be providing our customers
with an accurate cost, one they could plan and budget for.
Q: Can you give me a ballpark
figure on the price of a Sunroom?
A: The last time we visited a ballpark, it was a pretty big place!
A ballpark price should cover a very wide range of pricing
based on what is available in the marketplace today, and therefore
might not be very helpful. At Skyline Sunrooms, we constantly research
the industry and are committed to providing the best products and
services to meet any homeowners budget. If
you really are interested in an accurate estimate, you owe it to
yourself to take the time to schedule your free in-home design consultation
with us. Then, instead of a ballpark estimate, you
will have covered all the bases.
Q: Do sunrooms require a building
permit?
A: Yes, they do, and we handle obtaining
permits for you. All of our products have pre-approved, engineered
plans that make the process much quicker and more affordable than
conventional construction. You wont need to spend extra time
and money on architects fees, blueprints and plan reviews.
In addition, you may save money in the future by paying less property
taxes on one of our Sunrooms than on an ordinary room addition.
Please contact us with any questions regarding
building permits and inspections.
Q: How long does it take to have
a sunroom project completed?
A: Actually our sunrooms can typically
be installed in just a few days. Most of our projects, from initial
agreement to Final Walk-Thru, are completed in just 4 to 8 weeks
depending on the size and scope of the job. Things to consider are
homeowners association approval, Building Department plan checks,
manufacturers production time, bad weather, and the time of
the year. (Typically, our busiest time of year is during the summer
months.)
Q: Can I build a sunroom on my
existing slab?
A: We usually can install on an existing
4'' slab that is in good condition.
Q: Do Sunrooms get hot in the
summer?
A: We offer our customers the most energy
efficient products utilizing the latest in heat reducing and insulating
technology on the market today for the utmost in year-round comfort
in their Sunrooms. Some homeowners actually design their Sunrooms
as passive solar heating systems, allowing the suns natural
warmth to enhance the usability of the room on cold winter days.
The majority of our customers prefer to design their Sunrooms so
that they perform comfortably in all seasons. One of the unique
benefits of our Sunroom products is that our customers can upgrade
the glass at a future date without replacing the whole enclosure.
You can actually purchase a Sunroom,
enjoy the new space through the four seasons, and later on if more
performance is desired, you can upgrade the window and door glass
by simply replacing it within the same enclosure. Contact
our Sales Department for more information on this exciting new
concept in home improvement.
